To celebrate a beautiful friend’s 40th birthday, a bunch of us girls packed our bags and traveled to Cancun, Mexico to have fun. We stayed at the Secret Akumal Riviera Maya which is a new adult-only all inclusive luxury resort. For picture purposes, the celebrant requested that we bring an all white outfit. I knew I wanted to wear a tulle skirt but I was having trouble finding exactly what I wanted online which was a fuller and high-waisted skirt. Since I could not find one that meets my requirements, I went to JoAnn fabrics and bought the materials hoping I would make it myself. Mind you I have never made anything in my life except for those little undergarments I made when I was in economics class in secondary (combination of middle and high) school in Nigeria. LMBO! I could experiment because I had another outfit option anyway. I was introduced to a seamstress that agreed to make it for me within two days. I chose grosgrain ribbon for the waist (I told you I love ribbons) and to give the skirt a little edge, I bought a gold plated heavy duty zipper. I forgot to tell the seamstress to use the heavy duty zipper so she chose the invisible one instead. Overall, I am very pleased with the result. The workmanship is impeccable. I still want my gold zipper so I will be taking it back for adjustment very soon or just make another one in a different color.
Thank you DJ for the beautiful skirt. If you are in need of a seamstress and live in Maryland, you can send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org for DJ’s number.
