Gridding

Happy Tuesday!

So I went to bed around 5:30pm yesterday because the prior week was crazy busy for me. I couldn’t rest on the weekend because on Saturday, I had to take Crystal and her nine friends to Cheesecake Factory for her birthday and the girls also wanted to walk the around the mall to shop. Church things and cooking took over my Sunday. I woke up this morning at 3:30 am, ate (yep, I eat at odd times and it was Pounded Yam too…LOL!) and surfed Pinterest for beautiful things to pin to my boards. I was hoping by now someone would have found me completely knocked out on the floor; lo and behold I’m still awake. LMBO! Lord, please help me while I drive home this evening.

Second day into the week and I am already wishing tomorrow to be Friday. I just need that Christmas week to come asap. Maybe I should say ‘Holidays’ week because hubby told me last year he no longer celebrate Christmas because Jesus was not born on the 25th. “Say what? Who doesn’t celebrate Christmas?” I was shocked at the new revelation. This has got to be a joke or someone is trying to find an excuse to not go to the store at the last-minute. Jonathan Olawale was about to be that Grinch that stole Christmas from me. I mean from the kids.

“The problem with us Christians is we do not read. Go and study and you will realize the birth of Mithra, the sun-god was celebrated on December 25 not Jesus,” he responded smiling.  I could tell he was serious so there was no need for me to question him. Moreover, I was not about to have him talk me out of celebrating this beautiful wintry holiday.  I love the spirit of Christmas. Who doesn’t? The joy of spending time with the family, singing carols, eating, merrying, children unwrapping their gifts and everyone gisting. Did I just omit myself unwrapping my gifts? LMBO!

“Well I do,” I rolled my eyes as I continued to wrap the children’s gifts.  Nonsense! So he couldn’t wait till March to tell me this abi.

“What if someone gives you a gift? Are you going to reject it?” I wondered. “Of course not! I shall receive them with a grateful heart.” Long throat!  He got gifts and cheerfully accepted them.

Fast forward a year later, we revisited this topic last week at church and based on the new information I have acquired, I too no longer celebrate Christmas but partake in the spirit of the holiday.  December is the end of the year and it is worth celebrating. I have now joined Starbucks and the rest of the crew to wish everyone “Happy Holidays” on the 25th.
