Style Diary – Marlo Hampton

It’s funny how you see a dress, pant, skirt or top online and you wonder whether you should even make the purchase.  The item probably caught your eyes because it is made in your favorite color, fabric, or pattern but the model wearing the piece of clothing does zero justice to it. That was my initial experience when I first saw L.K. Bennett’s Frankie Polka Dot Full Midi Skirt online. The print caught my eye quite alright (I love polka dots) but the model made me second guess myself.  She definitely encouraged me to close my browser and never to return until next time.

Fast forward few weeks later, I saw a picture of Divalicious Marlo Hampton, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta rocking the same dress.  I swear this girl looks fantastic in everything she puts on. It does not matter if it is a Valentino dress, a Chanel boots or a La Perla, she kills it every time and she sure killed this look by pairing it with a leopard print pump.  Who would have thought to do that?  Well, I probably would have if I had to go through that moment where trying on every shoe in my closet to find the perfect pair is the task of the day.  I’m sure this happens to everyone.  Another thing she did was keep the pattern and color in the same family. Black and white dress! Black, white and brown pumps.  The touch of brown is subtle.

In the look below, I chose the vibrant color Ferragamo heels to add color and life for Spring and Summer.  It’s party season! This is a PERFECT dress for a black and white cocktail event. Just swap the handbag for a cute clutch.

Ummmh! On a  serious note, I wonder how Marlo’s fashion sense never robbed off on Nene Leakes.  Shades!!! Yep, I know. LOL! But it’s the truth doh.
